San Francisco Police Department

The San Francisco Police Department, commonly referred to as the SFPD, is the municipal police department serving the city and county of San Francisco, California, along with the San Francisco Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department is responsible for a population of nearly 1.2 million people, with over 2000 uniformed personnel. If you’re one of them or have friends or family in the force, Police Brand Memorabilia and Collectibles’ Customisable Wooden Thin Blue Line Flag with the name or badge number, a Police Bulldog Sticker/Decal for the car, or just the Police Bulldog Challenge Coin to add to a collection featuring challenge coins. It is noteworthy that our four-legged friends of the K9 Unit are also an important part of the agency, and so are their handlers, for them, we have the K9 Unit Sticker and K9 Unit Challenge Coin. It is noteworthy that San Francisco is the second-most densely populated city in North America and has the 11th largest municipal police department as of 2000.

The initial operations of the SFPD date back to 13 August 1948 when the force was overlooked by Captain Malachi Fallon and consisted of only 30 officers. The department was founded during the Gold Rush. In recent times, a study conducted by the California Police Lab revealed that the SFPD doubled its foot patrol force which led to the reduction of larceny-theft by 16% and assault by 19% across the city. The SFPD under its purview has 10 stations, 6 bureaus, and 2 patrol divisions for efficient delegation of work. It is aided by resources such as patrol cars and boats in its effort in crime-fighting and maintenance of order. More interestingly, the SFPD has been a part of popular imagination and media over the years. It was portrayed in movies such as The Sniper, Rush Hour, Zodiac, and Vertigo. The most influential of the lot in shaping how the department is viewed as the Dirty Harry film series that gave it an image boasting of a hard-nosed stance against crimes. It has also enjoyed a strong presence in short stories and novels under the genre of American crime fiction.

The San Francisco Police Department’s motto is the same as the county and city it serves: “Oro en Paz, Fierro en Guerra,” which is Spanish for “Gold in peace, iron in war.” This emphasizes on their endeavor to protect when harm befalls their community and maintain peace so everyone can live in prosperity. Police Brand Memorabilia and Collectibles’ Honorbound Protect and Serve Police Coin and  Peace Love Black and Blue Shirt are great products that draw attention these qualities of the law enforcement agency and are an excellent way of celebrating the officers, their work and letting our guardians know that they’re doing a good job and that the community is proud.
