The New York City Police Department, or as it is commonly referred to, the NYPD is the largest police department in the US with approximately 19,00 civilian employees and 36,000 officers. If you’re one of them or have friends or family in the force, Police Brand Memorabilia and Collectibles’ Customisable Wooden Thin Blue Line Flag with their name or badge number, a Police Bulldog Sticker/Decal for their car, or just the Honorbound Protect and Serve Police Coin for them to add to their collection or start one if they like challenge coins. The NYPD is also one of the oldest Municipal Police Departments in the country. Established in the year 1845, the police department, today, is responsible for maintaining law and order in a city that has 8.5 million people, by performing a variety of tasks that entail traffic management, law enforcement, ensuring public safety, countering terror and taking up proactive emergency response roles. It is noteworthy that our four-legged friends of the K9 Unit are also an important part of the agency, and so are their handlers, for them, we have the K9 Unit Sticker and K9 Unit Challenge Coin. Over the last two decades and a half, this department owing to all its constituent members has overseen a rapid decline in both violent and property crime rates, ensuring the lowest overall rate in terms of major crimes amongst 25 of the largest cities in the US.

The NYPD is divided for effective policing into major bureaus for the purpose of enforcement, investigation, and administration. Scattered across the entire city are 77 patrol precincts equipped with patrol officers and detectives. Furthermore, there are 12 transit districts so the subway system and its approximately six million daily passengers can be policed. There are 9 police service areas to monitor the public housing developments, home to more than 400, 000 residents. Uniformed civilians serve as traffic safety agents to ensure order across several stress and highways across the city.

In recent years, the NYPD has taken it upon itself to close the increasingly jarring gap between the department and the community. Since it is typical for citizens to learn about the officers that serve the community through the lens of media attention and public spectacle, the department has been methodically revamping its patrol plan. The scope and range for outreach and interaction with the communities that it serves have been vastly increased. The concept of Neighbourhood Policing, that embeds a community connection in the way the patrol operates and other entities in the department interact with the public, has been widely adopted. It helps better serve the people of New York City, its youth, crime victims, and those in the grasp of mental illness or drug addiction. All of these factored in, it only makes sense to support these brave hearts in their endeavor, and the Peace Love Black and Blue Shirt can help members of the community do just that and let their patrol officers know that they’re doing a good job and that the community is proud.

Please note that in no way is Police Brand Memorabilia and Collectibles affiliated to any law enforcement or governmental organization.
